Uniform

Northern Education Trust believes that students learn most effectively and achieve their best outcomes when they are comfortable, able to be themselves, and are dressed in such a way that sets an appropriate tone for education.
A consistent academy uniform policy is vital to promote the ethos of the academy and provide a sense of belonging and identity for all students, regardless of their protected characteristics or socio-economic circumstances.

Our uniform policy lays out the measures taken to ensure a consistent, fair and inclusive uniform policy; to implement a uniform that reflects the needs of all students; and a uniform that is affordable and the best value for money for the academy and students’ parents/carers.

Students must wear full academy uniform at all times when they are within the academy or on an academy visit, unless otherwise stated.

A copy of our academy uniform policy and uniform checklist including PE kit requirements can be found in the links below.

At Chesham Primary School, we take pride in our uniform and always want our pupils to feel part of our school community and come to school ready to learn. Our uniform is both smart and practical and all children must wear the full, correct uniform on a daily basis. Where possible, we advise that all items of clothing and footwear are labelled with your child’s name.

Our uniform comprises a royal blue sweatshirt/v-necked jumper/cardigan and a white shirt or polo shirt, which can be branded with the school logo or unbranded, grey shorts/trousers or skirt/pinafore, plain black, sensible shoes and plain socks/tights. In summer, blue gingham dresses are permitted.

For branded items with the school logo such as; cardigans, sweatshirts and polo shirts, these can be purchased via Monkhouse Uniform either online (www.monkhouse.com) or from their outlet at 86 The Rock, Bury BL9 0PB (Telephone 0161 764 4320).

School reading bags and drawstring PE bags are available from the School Office, whilst other items are readily available at various local supermarkets.

When buying items of clothing and shoes please be mindful of the Teachers within Early Years and Key Stage one who may have to spend a lot of time fastening shoe laces and buttons for several children. We really appreciate the use of Velcro on clothing, as it promotes independence and saves a considerable amount of time.

PE Kit

The children have 2 PE sessions per week which are either in the hall or outside. The main kit should consist of a plain white T-shirt and black shorts or leggings if appropriate. Bare feet are fine for indoor P.E. although black, elasticated pumps are preferable.

An outdoor kit will be required by the junior children, which should include a warm pair of jogging or tracksuit bottoms and a long sleeve top for warmth plus training shoes and, if possible, football boots.

A drawstring bag for P.E. kit should be left in school during the week. Because of the limited space in the cloakrooms, please keep the size of your child’s bag to a minimum.
